First, you say everything was beautiful in the old days, when you could farm griphons and they threw golds at you. Back when a Superior healing rune was worth 66k.
Then you say you hate the 12 year olds that complain that ecto's cheap now.
Then you go back to "Stuff should be expensive".

I so miss the days that I actually played and didnt get anything. I actually played... Wow, those days look so far away...
I used to play alot, but now, that items lose their rarity so fast, there is so much for the replay valuse of missions. Sure, we still have titles, but as far as Im concerned, titles in a game that doesnt make people with titles any more special than they should, are worthless.

I always thought that having item, which are rare and expansive, are far better suited as a cause to play for, than titles.
Because we actually used those items. Playing hard for that sword or axe that actually kill, or for that suit of armor that actually protects - instead of playing hard for that useless titles like wisdom or sunspear...

Ectos dropping in price is just because stuff was made less and less rare like the collosal scimi. Games like this thrive on items and economy, because ppl thrive on these aswell. I always feared the day I would get a fissure set for my ele, cause I thought "what now...". SO I spent all my ectos on items for my war.

Think about that when you finished all missiones 10 times and with all items you wanted.

the reason i have so little sympathy for the ecto price drop is simple.

the very people who are upset over the price drop are the very same (mostly) people who...........

1. opposed the rune trader because it would wreck farmers income

2. opposed guaranteed rune salvage as wrecking farmers income

3. opposed the drop rate increase on superior absorb/superior vigor runes (100k/70k) because were the last runes worth farming .

4. opposed any change making more items affordable to the casual players who make up the vast majority of players.

I dont know how you started this game but i was satisfied with my starters sword and i didnt want the best of the best at the start. Heck i didnt even know how all the dmg mods worked. After i played a while and made plenty of gold by just following the story line i got enough money to buy my first 15k armor. Next to that i was able to buy 15^50 swords both blue/greens/golds. It is affordable by playing the game normally, you dont HAVE to farm. There is no difference in a req.12 15^50 Sword vs req.7 15^50 Sword. They both deal the same amount of dmg but one is rare and the other isnt. You want the rare one? Go work for it. So there is no advantage for rich ppl above the casual player, the only difference is that the rich guy got some rares. Rares which are very easy to get even for a casual player when he does his/here best for it.
When im applying for a new job in a certain company i wont take the directors seat from the start. I will work my way up. This mentality of wanting allot for nothing gets no sympathy from me.

When GW:EN is released and everyone who has been hording them realizes that you don't need them to craft armor and some other rare material will be needed.

I didn't really notice ectos had gone down in price. then again, I never really pay attention to ectos since I've never even had to use them

I agree with the people saying that this is't that big a problem. I mean, ectos are "replacement gold" true, but I always found the concept of actually needing replacement gold a bit silly. I mean, 100k + items are really expensive and if there are actually items that are worth 1000k+ then wowzers, inflation really has killed the game

On another note, there would be an easy(but yet VERY difficult) solution to using ectos as replacement currency: trust. If you could trust the buyer to give you 2 payments(or more) at slashes of 100k, then we wouldn't need ectos. The big problem is, alot of people are jerks(and it's worse in the online world sadly) so trust is something very rare in game. But wouldn't it be nice though? ^_^ BUt I must be too naïve >.< To actually be able to believe in another person's good will? Sadly even in the real world trust is very rare these days, too many people so you know not that many >.<

Conclusion, well umm I forgot the main point but the fact is, ectos went down in price, is that going to kill anybody? Seriously here, sure some people will get "poorer" and won't be able to afford the (pardon my speech) "leet uber" items they wanted but is that going to kill anyone?

If they dont go down then they dont go down. The people that think they need to have the rarest of the rare stuff are ruining it more because they are wasting Anets time dealing with that instead of more important things.

I do have to admit there were much more nice (and with a better understanding of teh game) guys back when i started (and I did miss the cool first days of gw >_<).

Everyone upset about ecto prices right now wouldn't have been upset if they'd have sold them when all those other people dumped theirs. But in the dog-eat-dog world of commodity trading, nobody passes around a memo that says "hey let's all sell our ectos gang!" Rather, people think to themselves "I need to SELL NOW before other people do while the price is still high".

Alright, Alright. Stop whining or go play WOW or Maplestory and grind to your grave, if you want to make people jealous or feel leet.

FOW is supposed to be a self-accomplishment. The prices dropped, and that's okay. Deal with it. FOW is still far more expensive than Ascended armour. It still takes work. They're not going to drop to 2k that easily.

I feel that when people complain about ectos dropping in price, they are upset because they don't want other people to have FOW. If that's the way anyone feels, screw you, it's not your say. Armor doesn't decide your skill.

I've seen some real IDIOTS in FOW armor.

As for using Ectos for Currency, Lockpicks are a much more stable choice.

You don't need to be rich in this game to enjoy it.

Your post fails as you clearly dont have a clue about WoW.

One of the reasons I dont play WoW anymore is gold was for me way too easy to make. I was only level 16 on my two characters on Horde and Alliance servers yet had more gold than some of my friends who are level 40 + have. Auction House FTW. Intelligence FTW. Your post FTL. For me the only problem in WoW was levelling but that is because I was impatient and was annoyed at being able to buy Epic weapons and mounts yet I was no way near the level required. In my honest opinion for me making gold in WoW is easier than making gold in Guild Wars.
